Axemen Lacrosse Club - 2025 A-Team Tryouts
The Axemen Lacrosse Club is excited to announce that for the 2025 season, we will be holding separate tryouts for our U13, U15, and U17 A-level teams. This marks a new approach for our club, as we align with other Calgary organizations in hosting dedicated tryouts for our top-tier teams.
Key Details
- Tryout Registration: Details will be shared in the New Year via email and social media.
- Purpose: To identify players best suited for their age group’s A team(s) based on athleticism, stick skills, lacrosse IQ, and positional play.
- Dates: 7 Feb, 13 Feb & 3 March
- Cost: $75
Important Information
- Tryout Structure:
- This will not be a camp-style floor time. It is a performance-based evaluation process.
- Cuts will be made at various stages, including after the first day.
- Evaluations and cuts will be conducted by independent evaluators unaffiliated with the Axemen Lacrosse Club.
- Commitment Requirements:
- Attendance at tryouts is mandatory. No absences or player linkage will be accommodated.
- By registering for tryouts, players and families acknowledge the increased commitment required for the A-level program, including additional floor times and travel.
- Expectations:
- Families must be realistic about players' abilities, the process is performance-focused, and some players may be released from tryouts early.
- The intent is not to discourage players, but to ensure teams are competitive and aligned with A-level team expectations.
- Multi-Sport Athletes:
- While we support multi-sport participation, it is challenging to balance concurrent sports, such as hockey and lacrosse, at the A level. Please consider your availability carefully before registering.
Final Roster Selection
- Initial cuts will be made by independent evaluators.
- The evaluation team will work with the head coach to finalize the roster through additional practice sessions.
This initiative is a trial for the 2025 season, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we work to enhance the Axemen Lacrosse Club experience.
